Project Description
Arithmetic of Compassion
HOW I TACKLED THE PROJECT
Brief
The Arithmetic of Compassion is an incredible project created by Paul Slovic and Decision Research. It aims to educate and raise awareness of 3 cognitive biases: psychic numbing, pseudo-inefficacy and the prominence effect.
When I first learned about the project, I was struck by the importance of the message and by the need to help spread it. I wanted to work with the organization to create a brand and logo that captured the power, necessity and significance of the concepts.
Deliverables
In addition to creating a general version of the logo, I also created logos to be used across various channels and on differently-colored backgrounds. Once approved I created a brand awareness kit that used images, fonts and messaging in line with the brand–all of which were aimed at educating visitors to the site and its social media channels. The result was a a color palette of vibrant reds, the historically poignant and emotive image of a poppy and an approachable font.
